Well, I have summed up my opinion of this book in the title of this review. I think this is a really important book for anyone who cares about global politics and the global economy to read and take notice of. Professor Goldin argues that our main global governing bodies including the UN and World Bank are incapable of taking current global challenges because they lack truly global leadership and are too narrowly focused to transcend national boundaries. The issues that he raises are relevant, big and scary but we need to find a way to face and deal with them effectively to protect our planet and its inhabitants (human, animal and plant). It is a necessity and not a choice. I just hope and pray that we can find the means and the people to do it - and the latter is probably the main issue. Goldin suggests new approaches and principles. My pray for us all is that we find the will, the means and the people to make what he suggests or something similar happen because we need it. My fear is that our future will be derailed by the greed and egos of the people at the top because sadly, my experience of most people who make it to high office is that they lose their humility and reason... and sometimes, the total plot ...
