L of an album,
This review is from: L (Audio CD)
This for me was a classic of the early 90's and was a compilation of the band's early singles....it still sounds great 20 years later.
Tom Cullinan (guitar) went on to form Quickspace and Joe Dilworth also drummed for Stereolab, so a talented line up, and the album is awash with scuzzy buzzsaw guitars, feedback aplenty, whispered vocals and attitude in spades.
The opener "pop song" is just brilliant although the closest they actually come to an actual pop-song is "gorgeous blue" which is catchy and has a frenetic ending. "Delores" is more restrained and repetitive but still has some nice squally guitars (perhaps a little overlong though?) and "reptile smile" beats them all with a wonderful MBV guitar riff.
They should have been more famous but they made/make me happy.
