Blu-Ray Version of The last of the mohicans - Superb,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Last of Mohicans [Blu-ray] [US Import] (Blu-ray)
I have watched every version of this master piece, the Blu Ray version even beats the Laser Disc version.
The picture is so crystal clear you see new details of the film that you couldn't see before.
The audio is stunning.
None of the content is new, which is odd considering the original pre-edited version was apparently 3 hours long. This version is similar to the directors edition, but bizarrely Michael Mann removes the "Once we were here epic ending".
Here's hoping Mann releases an uncut 20th anniversary special edition!
Overall 10 out of 10, i loved every second.
Thanks for reading.

I am awaiting the blu ray edition for the UK, Region 2. But like Steve I am hoping it will be an uncut version, and not the so-called Directors cut reduced version!

It's neither the original Theatrical Version or the US Director's Cut. It's a new, slightly shorter (by 2 minutes) Director's Definitive Cut. Michael Mann went back, and recut the film again, for a third time, and it is this new third version, that will be on the UK Blu-Ray, and ONLY that new third version.
If you want the original Theatrical Version, you'll have to make-do with a DVD release instead. (Why Fox couldn't have included all three versions on the same Blu-Ray disc, and use seamless branching, I'm not sure?)

How about you READ THE BOOK - it actually is stunning and so much better than the film - and amazingly was written in 1826, yes 113 years ago !!
I promise you, it makes the film look drab and boring.
Here's hoping Mann gets a job doing adverts and leaves classic stories to a decent Director.

Steve Saviola says:
I've read the book, its excellent.....unlike your maths! If the book was written in 1826 then it was 187 years ago.
Makes your insults to the film and its Director look rather childish and pathetic.
