A food revolution!,
This review is from: Japanese Women Don't Get Old or Fat: Delicious slimming and anti-ageing secrets (Hardcover)
For starters this book is not a "diet". It is not a Japanese resurant book with quaint little fiddly recipies. This is a real person talking about real life food, not a diet you do begrudgingly for 10 weeks then put it all back on again after. This book has helped me to reflect on the things I, and we all put into our stomaches each day and realise how far away from nature we are when we eat; and why no matter how many cakes and crisps we eat, why we are still hungry, dumpy and miserable. Naomi Moriyama reflects on her Childhood in her beautiful home country and her present life in buzzing New York showing how simple and easy it is to choose healthy natural food and how easy appreciating it really is!
This book gave me the confidence to look at a glass of Coke and say.. that really is unhealthy, horribly superficially tasting and I genuinly actually dont WANT to drink it. While eating, I enjoy every mouthful because I take the time to appreciate the effort I'VE put into cooking this and go "oh my gosh!" I cant even finish this plate because I'm genuinly full and it was so nice! Rather than last week when I gulped it all down, didn't really taste it and felt ill and bloated and annoyed that I cooked it in the first place!
I havent gone out and purchased a mirriad of things. I've simply used the messages Naomi gives that Japanese women go buy and in a week I'm already shedding weight. NOT because it's a painful short lived diet but because it's revolutionised the relationship between me and my kitchen. I now look forward to cooking, eating and looking in the mirror. :)
Thank you Naomi. I loved your book!
