Methodical but readable,
This review is from: Roman Military Equipment from the Punic Wars to the Fall of Rome (Paperback)
This book is a God send. Too much information on the Romans arms and armour seems to derive from secondary sources but you get the feel from this book that you are right there.
The illustrations quite correctly eschew modern CGI type recreations and use more old fashioned but infinitely more revealing imagery of the artifacts.
The artifacts are arranged together by period which gives a great insight on how the various pieces of equipment as a whole set of kit evolved.
Thoroughly recommended read for those serious on the subject.
