Was this a true story? It was told with humour, warmth, affection and seemed very real.,

This review is from: Cupcake (Kindle Edition)This was a very sweet, warm read of a fat girl who gets a guy she initially can't believe could be interested in her.
It is told in the first person, and tells of Darcy's humourous attempts at losing weight, her love for food, which sees her taking a baking course and opening Cupcakes, a bakery and wedding-cake shop. We find out about her episode at a posh gym (funny and naked embarassing situation, complete with audience), a type of Weight-Watchers organisation (where she meets a guy who takes her on a date to his sister's restaurant; the latter just happens to be the fore-mentioned audience), we find out about her woes with ill-fitting undies and how that ended in her getting shot, and we find out about her ex who left her and went off to be a third-world priest, who then came back for her just as a hunk came into her life...She reminded me of Dawn French in her larger, happier days, unashamedly.
A real feel-good, heart-warming tale, which just needs a spell-check to make it perfect.
