Burglar Bill embodies what all good childrens books should be.
There is the feeling that whilst the child understands the story he or she also is that one step ahead in the logic. For instance the cry of the baby that Burglar Bill finds is a sound that is confused with the sound of a police siren. The resolution is almost like a sound joke and highlights the delight and simplicity of idea with sublety of understanding complex concepts. Also the risky morality of taking things is dealt with in a similar way. In no way is this book worthy or talking down to the listener and there is muchh to delight the adult and child. This is a must and as Burglar Bill would say, "I'll have that!"
