As exceptional as I'd hoped.,
This review is from: Room (Paperback)
As many other reviewers have mentioned, this is one of those books that lives up to its hype.
Jack's narrative voice is both affecting and unnerving. I was so absorbed in the story of his life that I stayed up until 2am to finish the book in one day. As a mum to two children, that's the sign of a remarkable book!
A novel hasn't moved me to tears in a long time but this one did at least twice. I hugged my own 5 (and three quarters) year old boy very tight after I'd finished reading.
It isn't always an easy read as it is often unsettling but it's one which stays in your mind afte you've turned the last page.
Buy it, read it, pass it on (perhaps with tissues); you won't be disappointed.
