This review is from: Berghaus Men's Prognosis Gore-Tex Hiking Shoe (Shoes)
I bought this shoe being a big Berghaus fan as I own a jacket, fleece and over-trouser from this brand. I read some reviews on this shoe and they all seemed really positive so I bought my pair in Sept 2012.
They have been used daily from dog walking to walking into town, etc and have covered a good many miles. The terrain hasn't been particularly testing, I've not gone for any walking weekend breaks etc. The sole is still in relatively good condition, minor wear on the heel but nothing untoward. They have been a very comfy shoe but I have slipped a couple of times on wet manhole covers and of course in snow but that's only to be expected.
However, I have had to return this shoe and am getting a refund and won't be purchasing this shoe again.
The shoe fabric has ripped in a couple of areas. Its not from being mistreated but just wear and tear. Considering I've only had these approx 6 months, that is not a quality I expect from a shoe priced at £100.
The gore tex protection was working though as my foot wasnt getting wet from these rips.
However, my foot was getting wet from the sole up - in both shoes. Thus defeating the object in purchasing a gore-tex robust shoe.
Oh well, back to doing more research to find a suitable shoe worth the price.
