Exactly as it should be.,
This review is from: Dodge & Twist: A Sequel To Oliver Twist (Kindle Edition)
It is 1851 and a recently bereaved and newly impoverished Oliver has returned to London to fight for his inheritance. The Artful Dodger has served his time and is back in town looking for new angles and, if the opportunity presents itself, to renew his acquaintance with his old partner in crime.
Fagin, Bill Sykes and Nancy may be dead, but they are not forgotten and as Oliver tries to stake claim his rights he is drawn inexorably back into the murky Victorian underworld he so narrowly escaped twelve years earlier and this time it is even less clear who he can and cannot trust.
Carefully researched and tightly plotted, this is the sequel that has waited over 170 years to be told. Charles Dickens' London was a darker and nastier place than is suggested by many of the film adaptations of his book and Tony Lee reflects that in this tale of adventure, mystery and revenge. The title is exactly right; the plot twists and dodges through the back alleys, gutters, roof tops and side streets of a city where the downtrodden poor live cheek buy jowl with the fabulously wealthy and the world's greatest exhibition and richest jewel are in town...
You will find this story eminently readable and impossible to put down and at this price, why should you?
