A bizarre tale of the far distant future,
This review is from: Son of Man (Paperback)
I have read most of Robert Silverberg's SF novels, and he is a writer of huge talent. However, this is not his best, not by a long way.
This is the story of a man called Clay, who is transported to a world of the far distant future. And what a strange world it is! Weird animals, humans who can change sex at will, and many strange scenes. Silverberg vividly describes the strange world, but he rather overcooks it with too much technicolour imagery and weirdness, and some fairly ripe language! Clay journeys through this bizarre world, trying to make sense of it, and having lots of weird experiences along the way.
I didn't enjoy this book all that much. It has its moments, but is too odd a tale for me. Two stars is fair I think.
