This review is from: August DP150B 1.5" Digital Photo Frame - Keyring Photo Viewer with Built-in Memory for 107 Pictures - Plug & Play (Camera)
I have called this a novelty item and although I received this as a free item to review, at the price point sold it is something I would get as a stocking filler rather than a serious piece of kit as it is a bit flimsy but I have not broken it. That said it does everything that I wanted it to do.
I tried it on a PC using Windows 8 and apart from it showing USB connected when plugging it in nothing else happened. I then opened explorer navigated to the photo frame which was shown as a CD drive and opened the folder. Among the things in the folder is an application called "DPF Mate" on clicking this the screen explained in the instruction book appeared and the software worked. It did not however install so I needed to do this each time I wanted to make a change to the pictures.
I don't know if this applies to other versions of Windows and they may load the programme with no problems.
The programme although looking old fashioned worked fine, other reviewers say that they would prefer drag and drop however if this was possible the device would not be able to hold 120 photographs (it says 107 in the instructions)as the resolution needs to be reduced to 128 X 128 which being a square format also needs the section of the photograph to be selected, it can also be zoomed in using the software.
Once all the photos are ready to load on the frame you have to click the download button which is stated in the manual to be "top right" it is but not at the very top and although clearly labelled it took me a little time to find it.
Once on the photo frame I was surprised by the good quality of the colours. There are options to run the photographs as a slide show, you can adjust the timing between them or a static photo which you can step on with a back and forward button.
There is also a clock which although you can set it is synchronised with the time on your PC. The clock can be displayed as analogue or digital.
So in all a nice little gadget, which makes a good key ring, rechargeable so you don't need batteries. I am not sure about the pink colour however and would have liked something else although a friends little girl liked the colour.
