The ups and downs of following a football team,
This review is from: The Miracle Of Castel Di Sangro (Paperback)
For the first 200 pages I though this was one of the best books - let alone football books! - that I had ever read. The story of Castel Di Sangro's first season in Serie B is a truly engrossing and emotional experience and provides a real insight into life in an Italian village by a man obsessed with a football team. The characters in the team, management and the local pizzeria are brilliantly funny, very human and never less than interesting.
For me, however, the sad tale of Gigi Prete and the ending were hammer blows that spoil the overall book - but the truth is the truth, so they had to be included.
