This is not a good machine,
This review is from: Sony CDP-CX355 300 CD Changer - Black (Electronics)
This is my third attempt to post a review for this machine - I don't know what has happened to my other two!
Anyway, I've had two of these machines (one new and one second-hand and nearly new) and both jammed within a few days and brokes CDs. Initially it will start to jump on the first track. When you press Open when it is struggling to follow a track it gets confused and jams the CD. It will then try to rotate the carousel while the cd is still loaded hence breaking it and scratching others.
If you do a more detailed search on the internet you will find that the skipping problem on the first track is a perennial problem and occasionally people report breakages of CDs. People have tried various techniques for fixing it which range from leaving the door open (to prevent condensation or something), to putting a heavy weight on it to prevent vibration, to ensuring that it is exactly level. Anyway, none of these remedies should be necessary if it was a machine that did not have problems with it's lazer tracking and unloading control.

Well this is amazing as we have had exactly the same problems it has broken tons of our CD's real cherished ones as well. We sent this item back to Amazon with a much detailed covering letter and have heard zilch since January 2008 we are extremely unhappy and due to our busy lives I have not had a minute before now to send this letter to Amazon again to try and get some action. Incredibly not impressed lets hope we get some action soon. will keep you posted
