Very different to EARL,

EARL is one of the most impressive mixtapes ever released, it seems such a shame that Earl Sweatshirt wants to distance himself from the persona he played in it with his debut album, Doris. While many people will be pleased he is not rapping about fictional rape fantasies, he now also sounds like he is disinterested in making music - the enthusiasm is gone - although the pure lyrical skill is there a-plenty. The track with Tyler The Creator is the best example of this, the chemistry between them is just missing - compare Orange Juice or Assmilk to Sasquatch and there is just no comparison.
Having said all of this, I do like this album, the features are very good (although maybe too many), most of the beats are solid and I like the short track lengths - not quite Madvillian style but the songs don't drag on like a Kanye West record.
