Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Samsung Series 5 530U4B 14 inch Ultrabook - Silver (Intel Core i3 2367M 1.40 GHz, 6Gb RAM, 500Gb HDD, DVD SuperMulti DL, LAN, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) (Personal Computers)
Seems well-made and looks stylish. Light(ish) and noticeably more compact than 15.6", without screen seeming too small (screen is actually good). Fast start up - no doubt helped by SSD (not available for user storage) - and performance from fairly modest i3 processor more than adequate - good , in fact - for my needs (multiple office applications, multiple browser windows mainly - no noticeable difference from my more powerful desktop used in this way). Keyboard has well-spaced (chiclet) keys and although not as positive as a "proper" keyboard is perfectly satisfactory. I found touchpad too sensitive in "single tap" mode and have disabled just that mode but otherwise it seems as good as most touchpads I've used (scroll, zoom, page turn etc work well). Does not come with too much "bloatware" and the supplied Samsung software (including recovery disk and partition) seems well-chosen. Battery life OK for the way I want to use it (4+ hours I've found). Overall very pleased (worth 4½ stars I would say), particularly as able to take advantage of Samsung's £100 cashback offer.

Yes, you can. That's one advantage of this machine over smaller ones (though with those you can always link an external dvd/cd drive, and these aren't very expensive)

It this better or the 2.3Ghz trinity chip with radeon graphics. Seems the rebate only applies to this one not the cheaper model. That one is already £100 cheaper.Samsung Series 5 NP535U3C 13.3 inch Ultrabook - Silver (AMD A6 4455M 2.1GHz, 6Gb RAM, 500Gb HDD, LAN, WLAn, BT, Webcam, Integrated Graphics, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit)

Healthfreak says:
Please can you let us know whether you have any wifi connection problems with this model ? Do you get the same signal strength "Excellent" anywhere in your house ?
I purchased the Samsung Series 5 NP530U4C Samsung Series 5 NP530U4C 14 inch Ultrabook - Silver (Intel Core i5 3317UM 1.7GHz, 6Gb RAM, 500Gb HDD, DVD SuperMulti DL, LAN, WLAN, BT, Webcam, Integrated Graphics, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit)
and am experiencing frequent and unexpected loss of connection as, I now found out, so many other people have reported in the UK and US.
Samsung so far have not been able to help with a solution which would make this machine fully workable. If you confirm the wifi card is working absolutely perfectly on your model, it would help if you could confirm the make. Is it the Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6230 ? many thanks for any information you can give. Also I find that the battery charger unit does get very hot during charging on the 4C model.

Wi-fi card is confirmed as Intel ... N-6230. Indicated signal strength sometimes slightly surprising (eg showing excellent in locations where I would have expected less) but more usually does show more predictable reading (ie varying as expected around the house.) More significantly, I do not recall having experienced loss of connection not associated with using machine in location having poor signal strength (and don't recall having noticed that signal strength was indicated as better than expected when I did lose connection - but I'll look out for this in future. The battery charger gets warm, not hot. Hope this helps.
