Zombies demos get their vinyl release at last,
This review is from: Zombies '66 [7" VINYL] (Vinyl)
Another one in a batch of six vinyl EPs recently issued on the Big Beat label. Covers and labels are made to look as if they are genuine mid-sixties releases, a nice vintage touch; even the centre piece is missing here! How strange then that three of the EPs have come out in 33 1/3 rpm, certainly not the way things were usually done in the sixties!
This one contains four demos originally put on the Zombieheaven box set. As every fan presumably has a copy of that successful set, there will be no musical surprises here. Four lovely tunes they are, anyway, the most surprising one probably being a short version of This Will Be Our Year, sung by Rod Argent. Three of these tunes were written by bass player Chris White, by the way; we must never forget that he wrote as many memorable songs for the band as Rod Argent did!
So, no new tunes here for those who own the ZH box set. The only difference is that this record can actually be played on your jukebox, provided it can handle 33 1/3 revolutions per minute...
