There are some good points on the sat nav e.g. voice activation and identifying landmarks. The thing I dislike most is the A and B numbers are ignored on the instructions. It will say turn left onto Ashford Road which is A251, it will not say A251 which is clearly signed and the name Ashford is easily seen from a and mostly hidden by traffic queuing at the junction. The A and B road signs are designed for road users, they are easily visible, are reflective for night driving, are often illuminated and face the driver. I find difficult to believe that they are ignored by the nevi 2598. By the way, the A251 changes names its local names several times, would it be so easy and logical to say follow the A541.
It gets so bad it refers to the A2 an eight lane dual carriageway (4 each way) as Watling Street, perhaps because it approximately the path of the old Roman Road, you find the route of Watling Street on an Ordinance Survey Map but you will see signed.
The unit fine and good value, the problem is its maps. I have contacted Gamin and they understood my issue but the maps are from an American corporation and they feel it reasonable to use road names in cities and A & B outside cities. I it tried for nearly 300 miles and did not go in one city and it ignored all A and B roads. Garmin get a new map supplier your nevi deserves much better.
I used it to go to a frequent address and was parked out side house correctly set and the nuvi wanted round the block into another road and enter through the rear garden!
I like the nuvi 2598 but the maps are a real problem. I will not use it because I find it too confusing.
