The man who killed Toussaint L'Ouverture the black slave leader ?,
This review is from: Napoleon For Dummies (Paperback)
In the book The Black Jacobins by CLR James, Napoleon is portrayed as being against the slave uprising in Haiti led by Toussaint L'Ouverture, and we are told that he was responsible for the death of the black slave leader. This book, on the other hand, makes it look as if Napoleon was supporting L'Ouverture, although the Haiti uprising is only briefly mentioned and doesn't even make it into the index. Who is right ? CLR James or J.David Markham.
