I have quite a lot of experience of diets. Over the years I have done fasting, macrobiotic, the Cambridge diet, Slimfast etc. Slimfast is quite a simple one but last year, lost very little weight after several weeks, so hungry and disappointed. Decided to give lo-carb a go, as long as mainly veggie. After one week have lost half a stone so thrilled to bits. The book is good as it is quite simple for the beginner at lo-carb eating. I like Rose Elliot's style and this book I would recommend to anyone wishing to lose weight safely but relatively quickly.
