Christmas special 2013,
This review is from: Downton Abbey: The London Season (Christmas Special 2013) [DVD] (DVD)
That episode of Upstairs-upstairs was incredibly boring to watch. In the first series it was great to see Downton in all its splendor, and marvel at it's wonderful interior and all the posh ball gowns, but we're past that-it's already been done! I can't help but thinking the writers are going round in circles- Sybil's been to London for the season (not shown on-screen but referred to), Bates has faced prison before, Mary's wondered who to marry and Robert has had to deal with crises involving Downton. As series one started in 1912, 11 years have passed and the characters seem to be back where they started, and getting nowhere! Overall, disappointing and very tedious- would not recommend to any fans of the show, it's not worth it!

Well said and totally agree, series 1 and 2 were very good,as was the first Christmas special but everytime their do the next series it gets worse and worse with very little to say and no direction,Downton is now just the same as a soap opera.I will not be sitting through anymore in the hope it gets back to it's former glory.

You are right, this by now very dreary soap needs to dissolve itself and run down the plug hole, it is a dead duck!
