Don't read this if you haven't seen the film. Saying it will spoil the film is probably an exaggeration though, as that's already taken care of.
Leaving aside how close this isn't to the original series, on it's own terms what you have here is a very average brit cops and robbers flick. Despite some decent action sequences the whole thing is hobbled by odd casting choices and an incoherent script.
Nothing is explained properly- apparently the sole reason for the jewellery store robbery was to execute a girl?! Surely there are easier ways of getting rid of someone? When Regan is let out of prison it is only he and Carter who are sent to apprehend a heavily armed multiple murderer and accomplices. When they get there the only guy who's supposed to be on the boat turns out to be on the jetty behind them. With a large automatic weapon. Stretching his legs I presume.
The whole thing is just plain daft.
Then there's the casting. Noone seems to really fit their character particularly well. Ben Drew looks a bit too young, Hayley Atwell too cute, Ray Winstone too.... well, Ray Winstone. Okay, that's vague but it's the best way I can describe the unconvincing tone that the film gives off.
At a push it's passable rental fodder, but little more.
