This review is from: The Hockey Stick Illusion;Climategate and the Corruption of Science (Independent Minds) (Paperback)
Fantastic, Frightening, Fact-finding!
Ignore the petty arguments and any suspected conspiracy theories - just read the "facts" and this book simply shows how corrupt and self-serving some branches of science actually are.
An excellently written expose of the way the public, and indeed government departments themselves, can be decieved and lead up the garden path by cherry-picked, dubious, spurious, and in some cases, totally wrong information.
Buy it, read it, and make your own mind up.

Alan Davies says:
Corrupt and self serving scientists eh? Nowhere near as corrupt and self serving as the merchants of doubt in the fossil fuel industries and their poodles in the political arena. We are playing Russian roulette with our planet, or poking a sleeping monster that may awake any time soon and seek redress upon those who have disturbed its slumber. All these doubters have vested interests in sowing their seed, just like the tobacco companies who sought to sow doubt about their products and lung cancer. It took decades for us to wake up, and millions of deaths, but nobody now doubts their damage their products have caused us. The same will be said about the human induced climate change deniers in the future.

you really should read the facts sometime. Not the "facts" put about by scientists who refuse to release the data to prove how they came to their conclusions. Or the "facts" put about by the scientists who infill the gaps in their data with erroneous or fabricated figures to produce the desired effect. Or how about the "fact" that Carbon dioxide is the only factor involved in temperature rises - despite the fact that while atmospheric Carbon dioxide continues to rise while global temperatures over the last ten years have cooled, hmmm, strange that. When we finally come up with the "real" proof that human induced climate change is happening (the sensible amongst us will not say yes or no until the data in indisputable) then we can consider the implications. Until then continuous mindless governments continue to spend billions on pointless environmental policies while millions starve today!!! Which should be given priority, you decide... But then the sheep who believe everything they are told without checking the details will always argue black is white while wallowing in the ignorance of the consensus follower. Do the checking - better a curious sceptic than a blind follower!
