Every bit as good as the other River Cottage Handbooks!,
This review is from: Hedgerow (River Cottage Handbook, No.7) (Hardcover)
This is a lovely book and an excellent addition to the series. John
Wright's engaging and humorous style makes this an accessible read which
will encourage even the most reluctant and nervous would-be forager to
set off with wellies and basket. The text is quite dense with a huge
amount of useful and fascinating information packed in, making it a
useful addition to the library for the more experienced forager. I cannot
agree with the previous reviewer's judgement on the recipes. I have only
had time to try one - Juniper Pot. It is absolutely delicious, though I
am afraid that the juniper berries came from Waitrose, not the wild.
Elderflower Delight (a take on Turkish Delight) sounds like a great idea
though I haven't tried it yet. Altogether a great little book and one I
can recommend unreservedly.
