3.0 out of 5 stars Dio again, 6 Sept. 2009

This review is from: The Devil You Know (Audio CD)
A bit disappointed with this album, its got the main elements, but while parts are brilliant and fresh it doesnt pull it off for me. I am and always have been an original line up fan since the very start. I have to admit there are some really good tracks on this album, but its just not them at their best. I always thought Tony Martin gave more to the band than Dio so maybe that has something to do with it. Heaven and Hell and Mob rules were the best they done, but just look at Live Evil and Dehumaniser, absolute garbage! The Devil You Know is obviously much better, but theres something missing i cant put my finger on, this proves Dio and Appice need this band a lot more than than the band needs them.Worth buying, but dont expect it to be classic Sabbath.

It's a bunch of blokes in their sixties giving it their all and putting bands half their age to shame.

Of course it's not going to be their best, but it's a damn good record.

I know how old they are, i`m the same age and was one of their truck drivers on UK tours between 76 and 81. So i met the original and second line up`s. Also i never said it wasnt a good album, i said it never really hit me like the original line up albums. I`m expecting the new album 13 within the next few days and personally think people will expect too much, but it will be more like they were originally. Anyway, the review is for people to put over their feelings on a particular album so others can decide whether to buy or not which is what i did. We need more new bands like The Answer, Voodoo Six etc
