Slightly silly plot,
This review is from: A Question of Blood (Paperback)
Rebus, Siobhan Clarke, Bobby Hogan and the others are still developing as characters. It is a testimony to Ian Rankin that even after 15 outings, we get a deeper and clearer understanding of DI Rebus. However, this plot is a struggle. The opening set-up is too obvious, without giving too much away, you pretty much know what didn't happen right from the start. The finale is in part ridiculous, the solution in part a fluke - both unsatisfactory. I had a feeling that a possible TV/film script was anticipated in the extra locations and the finale.
Despite all of these issues, this is still a very good read and I, for one, hope that there are many more Rebus novels still to come.
