Classic BBC Natural History at its Best...,

This review is from: Wild Arabia [DVD] (DVD)
'Wild Arabia' is a classic BBC Earth / BBC Bristol Natural History Unit production: stunning imagery, state-of-the-art filming (e.g. in a jerboa's burrow as it scurries to evade a hungry fox; night and ultra-violet photography to reveal a scorpion's UV sensitivity; beautiful aerial shots of a herd of oryx crossing vast expanses of dunes), appropriately local and moving background music; wry and unobtrusive commentary by Alexander Siddig, and so on. There's also an entertaining extra about the hazards of filming and the bond that grew between the film crew and the locals they met. I've lived in Arabia for over 20 years and it even opened my eyes to the variety of fascinating creatures and their struggle for survival. My Emirati students also love watching it...
