A thought provoking portrayal of friendship, love and marriage during the war,
This review is from: BROKEN RAINBOWS (HEARTS OF GOLD ) (Kindle Edition)
Broken Rainbows is the seventh book in the Hearts of Gold series - although like the other books in the series it could easily be enjoyed on its own.
It is set in 1942, when America's entry to the war brings some dramatic changes. In Pontypridd the arrival of a regiment of American GIs certainly stirs things up for all the ladies - single and married - who have been starved of male company for 3 years. There are romances, seductions, betrayals, and more than a few marriage vows are tested.
The stories are absorbing and moving, and the characters are easy to relate to and care about. Broken Rainbows is a thought provoking portrayal of friendship, love and marriage during the war. And as the war draws to a close in the last few chapters of the book, there are some particularly powerful and emotional moments of both happiness and sorrow.
Broken Rainbows, like the other books in this series, is wonderful reading - full of great stories and vibrant characters that provide not just entertainment, but a deeper understanding of our history. Highly Recommended.
The first six books are:

ONE BLUE MOON (HEARTS OF GOLD (PONTYPRIDD SERIES))
A SILVER LINING (HEARTS OF GOLD)
