Powerful but also incredibly subtle and delicate!,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Wharfedale Diamond SW150 Subwoofer (Black) (Electronics)
I've just put together the first real Hi-Fi system I have had for many years.
A NAD D 3020 DAC/Amplifier, a set of DALI Zensor 1 speakers, some Mission Speaker stands, and this Wharfdale sub-woofer.
You know that this is a serious piece of kit when it arrives in a box that says "Two person lift" on the side! This is one heavyweight piece of equipment!
Connecting everything up was simple - I already knew that the sub output on the NAD D 3020 was a 3.5mm line out, so I had also bought a 3.5mm to 2 x RCA cable.
It took no more than five minutes of experimenting to set the sub volume and cross-over frequency to where I liked the sound - and what glorious sound it is!
I am using this set-up in my tiny 8ft x 8ft den/study for near field listening and the thing that amazes me most is that I don't need to have the volume anywhere near loud to fill the room with absolutely beautiful sound. This sub just adds such incredible depth and warmth to the overall sound. For such a beast of a speaker the sound can be so subtle and delicate!
It can of course be cranked up to levels that probably endanger my foundations and those of my neighbours, but that's not what I bought it for.
I am absolutely delighted with my purchase and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great entry level sub at a low price.
