3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, 27 Nov. 2003
This review is from: Michael Jackson - The Number Ones [DVD] [2003] (DVD)
In my opinion, Michael Jackson has never been given a decent DVD release and unfortunately Number Ones is no different.
I say this is because of three things. Firstly, five of the fifteen short films presented here have been edited down in one way or another. These include: Bad (originally 18 minutes long), The Way You Make Me Feel, Smooth Criminal (this is the short “music video” version and not the version taken from Moonwalker), Black Or White (gone is the famous “panther” segment) and You Rock My World.
Secondly, there isn’t a trace of any special features, especially after it was said that the famous 1984 documentary Making Michael Jackson’s Thriller would be included.
Finally, many of the earlier short films, i.e. those prior to Black Or White, suffer from poor picture quality, such as graininess and loss of colour. You would have thought they might have taken some time to clean them up and do the DVD format some justice.
Anyway, I’m still holding out hope that one day they’ll release some sort of video anthology bringing together all of Mike’s best video’s, but knowing MJ’s current luck that ain’t going to happen anytime soon.

Paul Berney says:
You Rock My World is the full version, The Way You Make Me Feel is the known music video, the extended version is rarely seen, it is included on History as far as i know.
