A gentle whiff of bygone days,
This review is from: Village School (Fairacre Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
I first read this in the late 60's and have enjoyed reading it over and over. It simply tells the story of a year in a village school from the perspective of its head mistress. It is set in the mid 50's and perhaps because this is when I first started school - and went to village schools that it brings back many memories of my own. It is a little 'rose-coloured' - maybe - but it is just the thing to cheer me up.
