Perhaps when it was written originally it was ground breaking. However now, although well-written, this tale of a low life socio/psychopath eventually meeting his demise at the hands of depressed, disillusioned and cynical police and the racism/social deprivation of inner city Miami just felt flat and underwhelming bordering on the depressing.
Having said that, the hooks knitting the threads of the story together very well and the characters were well developed. At no point was my credulity tested.
