I had a look at the list of all the new improvements that Braun has brought to this spangly new Series 5 5070cc stubble destroyer and intended to address them all one by one. Then I unleashed the thing on my face and decided to save your and my time by cutting to the chase and accepting that the performance is the same as the last one. That's not a negative, the last one produced a great shave. If there was one flaw, it was the common one of stubborn chin and neck hairs taking a little more time and effort to be vanquished. Despite the new UltraActiveLift supposedly increasing effectiveness in this area, it still takes as many strokes as before. That bombshell is based on an actual factual personal anecdote of indisputability.
Similarly, the new automatic Clean&Charge station kinda seems like the last one. Wait, wasn't I supposed to be doing away with addressing these so-called new features one by one? Well, yes, but the Clean&Charge station is always fun to talk about. The cleaning fluid still smells like lemon vodka, which comes with the drawback of making me crave a drink whenever I shave. It also evaporates, which is only a problem if you don't use it regularly. Braun recommends cleaning it after every shave. If I did that, I'd be an alcoholic.
What has changed is the design. It looks black and classy with an added touch of red. If Darth Vader had a shaver, it would be this one. The scarring to his face probably means that Darth Vader doesn't need a shaver, though. It's also extra comfy to hold. It's not as though men ever have problems holding any shaver (with one exception being Darth Vader, who has to wear a glove over his prosthetic hand) but this one is extra comfy and... 'grippy'. The battery indicator lights even look a bit more like... oh, you know where I'm going with this by now.
There's nothing that detracts from the quality of this latest Braun. It does everything the previous models did, it just doesn't do anything they didn't, IMHO.
