3.0 out of 5 stars You have to love Tony..., 11 Feb 2014
This review is from: Demons [Blu-ray] [1985] (Blu-ray)
While young Cheryl is riding the West Berlin subway, a strange man in a metallic mask hands her tickets to a movie at a newly renovated cinema.

She invites her friend Kathy to go with her. A pimp and his girls are checking out displays in the lobby, one of which is a demon mask from the film.

One of the prostitutes tries on the mask and is cut while removing it. While the film is starting, the woman's wound starts oozing green slime and in seconds she becomes a demon.

She attacks anyone who crosses her path, and soon the cinema is filled with people turning into demons and those trying to avoid attack.

The exits have disappeared. Even stopping the film doesn't help, as newer demons appear......

It's a silly film, don't get me wrong, but it's made in such a tongue in cheek way, that you cannot help but get sucked in to all the absurdity.

The first thing you notice is the fact that a blind man has been given tickets, i'm not discriminating, but all the chap does is moan throughout the film, no wonder hi other half cops off with another guy.

acting as expected, is pretty below par, but we don't watch these movies for the execution of dialogue. The effects are great for their time, and the whole narrative just exudes genius.

The film does falter a little bit toward the third act when there are too many demons, as the treat and the creepiness is thrown out of the window, in order to make it that little more silly, but it doesn't really matter.

The characters are funny (especially Tony, who has to be the best thing here), and it just, but only just out stays its welcome.

It's like a lighthearted version of a Lucio Fulci movie, which is a compliment.
