3.0 out of 5 stars Beware wifi conflicts, 8 Oct 2011

This review is from: TP-Link TL-PA211KIT AV200 Nano 200Mbps Powerline Adapter - Twin Pack (Accessory)
Super speedy delivery, neat packaging and simple instructions ... except that after 30 mins of plugging/replugging, restarting my laptop, installing utility drivers and resetting the pair buttons, I resigned myself to calling the 24/7 technical support desk. Got through to a very helpful lady in Asia who spoke excellent english. She checked that I had all three lights showing on both plugs, particularly the second light, which shows internet activity. All good. The trouble was that my laptop was picking up 2 bars of connection with my wireless router. As soon as I disabled the wireless connection, everything worked perfectly. If I want to use my laptop by wifi, I just need to enable the network. Before you order, check how far you need the cable to run to connect from router to wall plug, and wall plug to device. If it's more than 1m, buy another cat 5e cable.

You should be able to resolve this by manually configuring the "Interface Metric" for each connection (click the Advanced button under TCP/IP properties for each connection.)

Set the metric to 10 for the Powerline adapter, and set it to 100 for the wireless. This will force it to use the Powerline if it is attached, regardless of the wireless.
