This review is from: Sports History: A Practical Guide (Paperback)
This book is not actually what you may think. This book merely preaches how you should read a book on sports history, it is not actually a sports history book.
Worse than that though is the fact that it is mind numbingly boring and clearly written by an academic/ nerdy teacher who has no understanding of sport and has probably never been to a sports event in his life.

Wake up and read the synopsis. It isn't a sports history book, it is a book which "is designed to help students new to this area of study by providing them with guidance ...", which is exactly what you complained it is. Sounds pretty good then!
