The king of desserts,
This review is from: Gary Rhodes' Sweet Dreams (Hardcover)
I ate Rhode's bread and butter pudding many years ago and it is the reason I bought this book. He does set out many great recipes clearly and in a foolproof manner, but the book suffers from poor editing (some of the page references are given as XXX for example and the ice creams seem oddly collated) and also the sponsorship from Tate is intrusive. I am not sure how the corporate tie-in worked, but it's just odd to see the company's products so heavily endorsed.
For me the key tests are: does the recipe work and how does it taste. Surprisingly there are some good and weird recipes. The bread and butter pudding recipe is fantastic, the bread pudding ice cream is not something I would make again.
If you find this book discounted, then it is worthwhile; full price it's not value for money.
