Elstree Hill but none the worse as a taster,
Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: The Rifleman [DVD] (DVD)
I liked this disc. It's cheap and has but three episodes of the old Chuck Connors series "The Rifleman". I can't tell where Elstree Hill got them from, they aren't top notch quality but they are watchable enough at the price.
The only thing is that seeing stuff that was riveting back in the early 1960's can be disappointing when we have become used to different styles of production.
These belong to the days when "oaters" filled the TV schedules, and B/W 405 line pictures hid the match between studio and backdrop with a hefty dose of forced perspective and good ol' character building morality.
The second show on the disc points this out well when The Rifleman, bringing up his son right in the Old West without benefit of a good lady wife comes up against an old frontiersman who won't adapt to the modern ways of the late 19th century.
Get it and watch it. It won't break your bank and it's not too bad.
