Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Sapphire 11199-20-20G AMD Radeon HD 7870 XT 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card (HDMI, DVI-I, 2 x Mini Display Port, PCI Express 3.0, 256-Bit, AMD CrossFireX Multi-GPU Technology) (Accessory)
I bought it for £177.60 on 18 March but it's gone up since then. I don't know whether it was a mistake or there is simply a high demand but I'm happy I got it for 177.

It's based on Tahiti LE chip and has 1536/96 stream processors/texture units instead of 1280/80 in Pitcairn (7870). Also, memory is clocked at 6000MHz compared to 4800MHz on a regular 7870.

Performance of this card is higher than any 7870 based card and closer to 7950. Considering that it's just 5-10% slower than 7950 I'd rather call it 7930 or 7940. I am able to play Crysis 3 on this card with settings set to Very High, 1920x1080, SMAA 2XT and just Shadows set to Medium. [43fps avg; Catalyst 13.3 Beta; Core i7 860 @ 3.8GHz; 8GB 1450MHz CL8; X25-M; Win8 Pro]

It doesn't get very hot and it's quiet. After few hours playing GPU temperature got up to 72 and VRM temperature was 91 max. Fans (there are two of them) were only spinning at 50% (2000rpm).

Board itself, layout and build quality is perfect as any other Sapphire video card.

I give it a strong buy recommendation.

Wow you got a bargain! Everything seems to have gone up since Christmas though.

This seems to have very very similar specs to the previous 6970 cards. This should have been called a 7890..... Just bought a Sapphire DualX 7790 which has recently been released and is factory clocked at 1075MHz core and 6400MHz memory for £129 but it doesn't seem to be available on Amazon yet.
