4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the money!, 16 Jan 2009
This review is from: Out of Control (Audio CD)
Girls Aloud is back with the album "Out of control". The musical content of the album for a Girls Aloud fan, can be comparable to their debute. It holds a slight variety of amazing pop tracks, but also slightly disappoints. Let's go back into history on their album discography. "Sound of the underground" was their debute album back in 2003, holding that slight variety of eligable hit machines, but overall not living up to its expectation. In 2004 they had released a fairly better album "What will the neighbours say?" which held a great selection of compositions made for those fans who appreciate the electro and dancy sound of Girls Aloud. "Chemistry" was released in 2005, which is definately their weakest by far, only containing 3 songs worth the listen, unbelievably that outsold the debute album. In 2007 with "Tangled up" you could easily notice that the year break had done them well, with it being their best album to date. "Out of control" in this case is not the greatest sequel to "Tangled up". 3 songs on the album jump out. Those 3 are "The loving kind" which is currently missing out on a good chart position due to the overrated (and possibly worst song of the album) "The promise". The other 2 songs in nomination for a single release are "Turn to stone" which is my 2nd favourite song on the album, followed by "Live in the country". These songs bring you the feel of the "Tangled up" album, an electro sound with that fierce edge. The other songs, go from fairly decent to one song that is absolutely annoying ("The promise"). It's a decent album overall, definately not their best, but well worth the 9 quid. For the lovers of electro I'd redirect you to "Tangled up" which is a much better album. I also think the front and back cover are absolutely attrocious on this album. The font looks like a pressed and flattened Times New Roman and utterly does not fit the photo's made for the release. Overall I give the album 4*, for it is Girls Aloud and it is definately not bad.
