Interesting movie shame about the DVD,
This review is from: Slipstream [DVD] (DVD)
Like the VHS and laser disc releases this movie is ruined on DVD by a ten minute cut and pretty awful cropping of the image.
When it was shown on TV (Sky movies in around 1990) it was shown 4:3 but with the full running time which is shorter by around 10 minutes in the home video release. When it first came out on Sell Thru I contacted Entertainment in Video and they told me that this was the "preferred version" Er, by whom?? Renters of the VHS got a second free tape with a making of program which used to turn up in ex rental deals and charity shops but has never been released as an extra.
The film was shot in 2.35:1 and is cropped here to 4:3, momentarily appearing in 16:9 within the 4:3 frame to accommodate the movie's title.
The movie itself is celluloid marmite - you will either like it or loathe it. I like it but I await the day when we get a decent transfer and this disc ain't it!
