A mixed bag of episodes - with one truly moving episode.,
This review is from: Doctor Who -- The Complete Series 5 [DVD] (DVD)
I received this boxset as a christmas present and finally got around to watching it.
Out of the 13 episodes boxset the one that was truly moving was towards the end of Vincent and the Doctor, when Van Gogh travelled into the future and listened to the museum curator in the form of Bill Nighy (Bill you cannot do anything wrong...such a brilliant actor), describe his feelings on the work of Van Gogh, with such an eloquent and beautiful monologue that brings a catch to the throat and tear in the eye.
I'd only ever seen Tony Curran in Ultimate Force before this Doctor Who episode, but he was such a moving character to watch.
The less said about the alien turkey the better I think.
Bill and Tony really rescued the episode...and the final moments were exquisite.
Other good episodes were The Time of Angels and Flesh and Stone.
