This review is from: Philosophy for AS and A2 (Paperback)Prior to reading this book, I had toyed with the idea of doing a Philosophy A Level, but not any more. It's very difficult. I found it hard to understand large amounts of this book, my only previous experience of philosophy having been reading Nigel Warburton's "Philosophy-The Basics" and "Philosophy-The Classics". This AS/A2 book is a big step up from both of these introductions and while I could follow Warburton's books , I struggled with this one. I found the subject matter of the book complicated and dull and I am now convinced that I wouldn't have a chance of passing an A Level in the subject , unless I went back and studied the subject full time getting assistance and advice from qualified teachers. At my age I have no interest in that. I would recommend this book to anyone considering doing a Philosophy A Level. The concepts described aren't easy and ,although I have a basic knowledge of most of them , this book takes them to a level I can't follow.

What? on 12/12/11 you were saying you had a good understanding of A level philosophy. In another review in January 2012 you said you'd read a lot of philosophy. On 3/12/11 you comment on other philosophy books as you do in November 2011. Now you're saying your only experience is having read two books???
I do wish 'phantom reviewers' would stop. A very wise man once told me that if you're going to be a liar you need a very good memory. Your memory span seems only to be a couple of months

Glad to see you've nothing better to do with your time that hunt around Amazon reviews trying to make an arse out of me. I have read a fair amount of philosophy books, one of Warburtons books is like a much simplified version of this A Level book and thats what I based my comment about understanding A Level philosophy. This book clearly make me reassess my previous position. Find something better to do with your life than posting such petty comments.

Sorry. You can only make a fool of yourself; I can't do it for you. Reviews are supposed to help people. You posted a load of waffle that was inconsistent and so of no help to anyone!!
Say what you mean and mean what you say. Don't make things up on the hoof.
