2.0 out of 5 stars Why buying this Movie is a mistake. Three reasons...., 9 Jan. 2013
This review is from: U.F.O [DVD] (DVD)
Why Jean Claude Van Damme acted in this low budget, badly directed, badly scripted movie with bad actors and bad special effects? The answer is simple, he did a favour to the film with his guest appearance because of Bianca Bree, the lead actress in the movie! Bianca is the daughter of Van Damme and actress Gladys Portugues.

Now the three reasons you are buying this movie and why every single one of them is a mistake.

1. You are a science fiction fan or UFO buff - No, this is more like a badly scripted movie with little sci-fi element. Of course, there are bad special effects and some silly alien crafts but the script and direction are so silly you might find the Youtube camcorder videos or school projects often are better than this silly flick.

2. Jean Claude Van Damme - Forget it, he had nothing to contribute with his guest appearance. We feel sorry for him. Worse, he is not part of the main characters or the main story (if you can call it a story)

3. The cover art - Yup, I fell for it, just like you are going to - the marketing is really good. The DVD cover looks fantastic especially with Jean Claude Van Damme's name of the cover! The cover makes the movie pretends to be a mad budget sci-fi flick, and with Van Damme's name you cannot but think it can't be a low budget movie! There you will go wrong, and the very first scene, you will hit by reality and regret!

I know a few reviewers think the special effects are good or acceptable though the seventies had better ones. Even low budget films can have better special effects than this silly flick.
There I warned you. If you still yearn for it, do yourself a favour - rent it first, don't buy it.

Van Damme has sadly lost it now, i used to adore him until i seen that Behind Closed Doors documentary that didn't him any favours, he's made some classics in his time but should call it a day now.

A good product review.

It's sad indeed, sometimes I feel he wasted his value by acting some low quality films. He'd some great movies in the 90s especially Blood Sport, which still can claim its cult status and many fondly remember the film. And you're absolutely right, more than that he's sadly lost himself now. Thanks for the comment, much appreciated :)
