Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Jim Henson's The Storyteller HC (Hardcover)
I was very excited to find this product having grown up watching Labyrinth and the Story Teller by Jim Henson - I thought it was the original book (I have been trying to buy the original dvd but it retails at a very high price).
When the book finally arrived after having taken ages to be dispatched I opened it to find it is a cartoon and written by others - it looks purely as if they used the image of the storyteller. I took one look and am about to promptly return the item!

Mr. James Dickson says:
You're probably right that it could be made clearer this is a graphic novel and not a second edition of the original book, but as a fan of the series and Jim Henson's work as a whole, I'll be buying it anyway.
Even if you're not interested in the graphic novel, I can highly recommend the original book Jim Henson's Storyteller if you've not bought it since your review. It's well worth the money as it's essentially Anthony Minghella's screenplay for the television series, just re-worded here and there so as to make sense when read without the company of a sarcastic dog. The illustrations are effectively lifted from the TV series too which helps evoke those nostalgic thoughts and feelings as you're reading.
Also, If you're after the original DVDs then I'd recommend checking ebay instead of amazon. I managed to get the region 2 German versions of both the complete original tales and the Greek myths from ebay for around £15 each at the time (these versions included the original English soundtrack, so only the text on the DVD and in the booklets was in German).
