Unlucky for some - in this case, me!,
This review is from: Techfocus TomTom ONE v2 / v3 / XL Europe/GB (Regional) Mains Travel Charger (Personal Computers)
This charger arrived quickly and I had no problem with the packaging. Having plugged it in for the first time, it lit up with a blue light, which in 2 seconds changed to green. It then popped and the light went out - it was completely dead and hadn't even started to charge the Tom Tom. Well, what do you expect for the price? I'm just thankful it hadn't damaged the sat nav. I won't return it - not worth the postage and I would be dubious about trying a replacement product anyway. Another reviewer mentioned a Motorola phone fitting and yes, it does fit perfectly. Wonder if the phone charger will work on Tom Tom?

C. Nation says:
As long as the output of whatever you use is <5V dc and <2A, it will charge your T/T. I asked T/T to confirm the output of their own chargers and the figs here are from them.
If you buy a Sony mains charger for their MP3 Walkman range and have suitable USB to ? lead [whatever termination your device requires] you can use the Sony to charge a variety of devices because it has a standard USB socket, not a hard-wired lead.
The Sony outputs 5V dc at 500mA, so although it will take a bit longer to charge a T/T than a T/T charger, it will do so safely - and it will charge a Sony MP and any other gizmo that you offer up, if you have a suitable USB lead. In the case of a T/T, standard USB to mini USB leads are ten a penny. T/T supplied one in the box.
