While the music is good, the lyrics are mindbogglingly banal, sounding as if they were written by a 15 year old boy without much hope of getting a good mark in English class.

You do realise that the album is written from a perspective of a teenager?

I agree entirely, if you understand the premise of the album is to highlight what is going wrong with today's youth you will see that indeed it is written from a teenager's perspective and in doing so makes a more cogent point than a 'preachy' discourse from some elder white middle class male.
