A feast for the eyes,
This review is from: Dan Cruickshanks - Adventures in Architecture [Blu-ray] [Region Free] (Blu-ray)
Dan Cruickshank travels the world examining sites of great architectural significance. If you can get past his breathless enthusiasm, the photography is just stunning and the buildings are fascinating and examined in some detail. Unfortunately some of the buildings featured such as the Minaret of Jam (in an active war zone) are in grave peril of destruction or collapse. I would give this 5 stars but unfortunately the BBC has seen fit to release cutdown versions of each episode. Each runs ten minutes shorter than originally broadcast which they have achieved by deleting one entire sequence from each episode. So, for example, you won't see anything of the pyramid in Astana. However the remaining footage is exquisite and the set is still worth purchasing even in edited form.
