The coolest feel good movie,
By A Customer
This review is from: Show Me Love [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This has to rate as one of the best films I have seen, it's clever, funny, honest and you are guaranteed to be smiling manically by the end!
It follows Agnes and her loneliness in the small town of Amal, not helped by the fact she is struggling to come to terms with her sexuality or the petty cruelty of the in-crowd. It also follows the popular, pretty Elin and, as the girl's lives converge, the similarities begin to appear.
There's little more I can say here without spoiling a wonderful film and also, a great deal of it is conversational, but don't worry, there is more of a plot than just that!
I love this film so much because it has such an air of realism; the camera work, which resembles a documentary style helps, but it is the charectors and their behaviour which is so accurate. Most 'screen-teens' do cool things and have these happy perky lives; the teenagers of Amal are bored, drunk and talking about absolute rubbish - mobile phones, how to convince parents you've not been out while grounded, whether raves are cool or not. It is brutally honest about the phoniness, bravado and confusion of teenage life.
I love this film and I don't honestly believe anyone could fail to enjoy it. It truely is wonderful.
