This review is from: Magnetic Dressing-Up Play (Magnetic Dress Up) (Hardcover)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)This is a magnetic version of the traditional child's play-book with paper cut-out clothes to dress card bodies. It is simple and colourful but the compartment for storing magnets is flimsy, and it takes up too much space where it is intrusively positioned to dominate the foot of every page. The book claims to "provide fun and entertainment" but this is likely to be fairly short-lived as it has only 8 pages which include the insides of front and back covers - and these are not even magnetic. There is a further claim that the book "develops manual dexterity" and this is certainly correct for opening of the blister-pack containing magnets! Also children may become frustrated as the magnets don't always `stick' too well. A third claim is to "stimulate imagination" but reality is that very little imagination is called for. A bit more narrative could have allowed parents to be involved and to appeal to children's desire for things to be repeated. A printed warning is that the book "contains small parts" and is "not suitable for children under 36 months". It is probable that children within the targeted age range will soon grow out of this product. All said, it is a nice present for grandparents to take on a family visit - and the magnets can end up on the fridge.
